Regarding centered images, try adding this to your Custom CSS box on the Customize page...

.aligncenter {
    display: block;
    margin: 0 auto;
}

Regarding the slider content, that is populated by posts. To tell WordPress which posts to disaply, you need to have a designated slider category (i.e. "Featured", "Slider", etc.) and assign posts to that category. Once you have done that, you simply assign the category to the slider on the Customize page.

Could you point me to a simple video or explanation of how to activate the slider and insert content into the Politico theme? I'm totally at a loss to understand where to turn it on and how to insert content.

Also, we have tried to center the photo on my website but can't seem to get it (yes, we turned off the sidebar). No matter what we do, it just won't center on a browser. Directions to do this would be welcome.
