Sorry Molitor Im not sure which file to upload on wordpress godaddy's site: contractor, contractor files 1093, licence and invoices .. folders contains many subfolders and files and not sure which one is the right one to upload for the whole template to be edited as wanted. I'm trying to use the theme in the same way as it is displayed (with 2 columns) but I cannot make it appear the same. The "columns" are right next to each other, as in a very small table. How can I make the pages look like the samples I saw when I purchased the theme? I tried following the instructions for the Index Page of The Novelist, but I cannot see any "Tab Index" or dropdown list.

If you open up location-script.php you'll see the following section starting on line 43...

//CREATES COLOR PROFILE

Below that you can see the color settings for various items. Adjusting those — via hex color values — will allow you to change the colors of the map.

Hi Chris, thank you for the help. I understand how busy you are. You posted a link to working with the Google API on the forums so I'll work through that. The Contractor is perfect for an architectural showcase. I have about 240 properties, which are commercial and residential so different colored pins for the project type would be very helpful. I'lll get there. I thought WordPress was similar to the older desktop publishing programs... my bad.

The website isn't public as I have to add 100+ homes and projects before I open it up. I can send you the admin log in if you like, but it's not a crisis for the listing orders as it will take me some time to get the other entires created.

To answer your first post, you would need to edit the core theme files as the mapping system is built into the theme via the maps API. Unfortunately my support forum does not include support for making edits like this. That would require custom development services.

Regarding the second posted question, customizing the pins/colors of the map is not a built-in feature of the theme. All that can be done by making edits to the core theme files.

Hi Chris, I have more Contractor map template questions.... why does it take several attempts to change the address wording (North to N, or including, or committing "street") to force locations to appear on the map? The "tricks" necessary to get a location to appear on the map doesn't follow any pattern than I can identify. I'd also like to know what I can do remove duplicate media images (clearing cache browsers didn't help) and why the posts I've created for various commercial projects don't display on the main page in an orderly manner. There will be 3 posts across a page, then 1 on the net line, then 2, etc... I apologize for being a WordPress newbie.. these things are not intuitive to me and I cannot find the appropriate info on how to correct them in the online materials. Thank you, Neil

And as a follow up question, is there a way to use different color map pins for different categories of results? i.e.... Blue pins for residential projects and orange pins for commercial projects? Thank you.

I'd like to add the usual Google map zoom and pan buttons to my Contractor site, and I haven't found any information on how to accomplish that on the forum pages. Does that mean editing the template code or adding a map plugin? Thank you.

I took a look at the page you linked to. I'm not able to identify anything theme-based that would cause an issue. Looks like the plugin markup is sitting in a pretty basic DIV.

I appreciate that the plugin probably works in other themes, but please understand not all themes are the same.

To my knowledge there are no existing style/script errors with this theme. Unless a specific issue with this theme is detected or identified (i.e. incorrect styling, errors in styling, script errors, etc), I unfortunately do not have the resources to investigate/troubleshoot the code of a third-party plugin. This is clearly outlined in my support terms (please see item #2 in the "please read" section posted below).

My best suggestion is contact the plugin developer and inquire why their code is not displaying correctly on your site as intended.

Again, the plugin markup is sitting in a very basic DIV, which has no special styling/scripts to interfere with the plugin. If you find a specific issue with the theme (i.e. incorrect/incomplete markup, styling, scripting, etc.), please let me know and I'll address the issue as soon as I'm able.

I was happy with my The Contractor template since I have issues with some plugins and some post types. About post types I will write another topic.
When I'm looking for a logo carousel or showcase for my website, (link: http://avvaagency.com) I tried many plugins that is for wordpress. Most of plugins working like that you need to create new logo and set featured photo under new post type Client Logo as defined by the plugin. Most of plugins not showed the featured photo section at the right of post editing page. That is why I downloaded and installed the theme again from themeforest.com, but it didn't help. At least I found the solution as activating different theme which is working fine with client logo plugins and setting featured photo and then turning back to the The Contractor theme. It was the solution for back end but not the solution for front. BCZ the web page was not showing the logos or carousels in a correct way.
Now I found different plugin that is not working with featured photo and I still have a problem while displaying.

I set the columns in plugin but it's showing different quantity in the desktop, phone. I tried all devices. With different theme it's working fine but when I'm switching to Contractor there is something conflicting. Also the logos not showing in center, they are not fitting in text box of the page.

To remove images from the gallery, you need to delete them. To add images, you need to upload them from the post edit screen.

Sorry for misunderstanding. I giving you steps which I followed.
1. Goto post creation
2. Selected Post format "Gallery" and selected categories
3. By Clicking on Add Media, added 3 images which became gallery images for the post

Now, What should I do to add another 2 images in gallery and remove existing 2 images?
Do I need to delete images from Media ? Or any other options to remove association between gallery image and post?

Hi, how do I change the home page layout of the content to not show across the 3 columns - where is the theme function or page template to modify for this?

I see in customise you can set column count for content and I've put 1 in but this doesn't seem to apply to all pages in the site.

1. There is not a default method for injecting a category of posts onto a standard page, so you would need to utilize a plugin or perform custom development to add that functionality.

2. You can add text to category pages via the category description text box on the category edit page (wp-admin > posts > categories > edit category)

Definitely sounds like a hosting-related issue. "php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini" is all host-related jargon that doesn't have anything to do with the theme.

Hi, received and tried but the same results. When it stopped doing anything I refreshed the page and got this message:

Sorry, there has been an error.
File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.

There are some images and also some files such as demo_content.xml_-2.txt and thecontractor.wordpress.2017-03-28.xml_.txt in the media folder. Nothing in pages or posts
