To disable prettyPhoto, open "custom.js", which is located in the "scripts" directory of the theme files, and remove the following on line 36...

jQuery("a[href$='jpg'],a[href$='png'],a[href$='gif']").not(".wrapperli a").attr({rel: "prettyPhoto"});

This will remove the auto-assign feature, but PrettyPhoto will still work if you want to use it later by adding "rel=prettyPhoto" to image links.
