Roll-out Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder

Directions

  1. Cream butter and sugar together for 3 minutes.
  2. Add egg and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and baking powder.
  4. Add to butter mixture until combined and chill  overnight (or at least for 2 hours).
  5. When ready to bake, let the dough sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll dough out to desired thickness, 1/4 – 3/4 inch and use your favorite cut-outs.
  7. Place cookie cut-outs on prepared cookie sheet and bake 6-8 minutes.
  8. Cool thoroughly and frost with your favorite frosting.
  9. Bake at 400 degrees on an ungreased pan for 5 to 6 minutes.
