xmlrpc.php seems something added by WordPress as I see in all my websites’ (themes’) folder, even older websites developed in 2013. I have been on CHAT with my web-hosting company and they suggested two options linked below:

As for your xmlrpc.php issue, please check this forum - http://wordpress.org/support/topic/fyi-solution-to-an-xmlrpc-issue. You should edit the code provided in the mentioned article according to your application and place it to the .htaccess file in the root of your account.

Here you may see the other way: http://wordpress.org/plugins/prevent-xmlrpc/ it is a plugin so this should be easier for you.

It seems the hosting companies are taking the server over-load seriously!

That's fine Chris. Just for my knowledge so I could investigate/discuss it further with the hosting company. Could there be any link with http://archipelago.phrasewise.com/rsd which I noticed in the xmlrpc.php?

My website was blocked by my hosting company. They created and emailed me a ticket that xmlrpc.php performed a server overload Aug-05-2014 at 05:00 (UTC -05:00). Please advise.
