Yes, this is normal. If you click the "view all" option in the check box area, it will show a custom "home" link already created for you.

DUH!

Chris, I am SO dumb!

I tried again after I wrote to you and just set a link to the url of the page and named the link "Home". Of course, that did the trick.

Just so I know for the future, is it necessary to use the Custom Menu to get the drop-down menu to work?

Thanks, Klaus

Thanks for the response, Chris.

I was probably not very clear. It appears I must use the custom menu so that I can order pages and post categories in the order the client wants and also to enable the "Pastor's Words" category posts to show in a drop down below the "Our Pastor" Category.

If you can tell me how to accomplish that without using the custom menu, that would be ideal.

The problem with using the custom menu is that the only choice I can use for the "Home" page is the Featured category, but then, instead of the slider displaying, only the 5 posts that make up the images for the slider show, and, of course, no images.

Thank you, Klaus

Thanks for emailing me...

I'm not sure why you're using the "home" link to point to the "featured" category page. I would recommend keeping the default home link.

The theme has a built-in home page that shows the featured section with posts below it by default. You don't need to create a custom page for that.

For the blog posts on the home page, the WordPress loop is setup to show a single post. You'll need to change the loop in "index.php" to show more than one item.

Let me know if that helps/makes sense...

Hi Chris,

I am using the Custom Menu set to "Main." I cannot get the "home page" content to show, eg: the featured images slider and it's posts below.

When I select the "Featured" category and change the navigation name to home, the images do not show, only a listing of the posts that contain ONLY images.

The url is: http://www.spbclongview.org

The only reason I am using the custom menu is so that I can get the "Pastor's Words" category to show up in the drop down navigation under the "Our Pastor" page.

Bottom line: How do I get the Home page to show both the slider with featuired images as well as the category I have assigned to homeBlog? (I have deleted the code for the homeNews, as the client wants just one column under the images.

Also, when I add a second post to the category (news_events) assigned to the homeBlog, it does not show up. All that shows is the original post associated with that category.

Thank you for this fine template!
