I have tried this without being able to get the text to display wider. If I reduce the size, say to 200, it does get smaller. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi there,

Here is the current CSS styling that affects the width for the page content area...

#pageContent {
    max-width: 500px;
    width: 500px;
    margin-left: -250px;
}

You can copy/paste that into the Custom CSS box on the Customize page (appearance > customize) and make edits there. Note that the margin needs to be -half the width.
