Problem solved! Silly me, it turns out I already dealt with this in the previous KT release.

I followed your advice to turn off plugins and tracked down the problem to SEO by Yoast. Then I searched your forums for a possible solution and found this thread:

...which has a post by yours truly saying that I had the same problem as the OP and that your suggestion of replacing $id with $welcomeid fixed it! I had forgotten all about it.

I wonder if you might consider changing that variable name on your end in future Kitchen Table releases, so that Yoast SEO doesn't conflict with the theme, as it is an extremely popular SEO plugin. Failing that, I guess I'll just have to remember to make that change whenever I install a theme update. ;)

BTW, the .html endings are so that I can match my URLs with my pre-WordPress incarnation of the website, so as not to lose bookmarks, SEO traction, etc. I use a plugin called ".html on PAGES"

It looks like you have some errors with the content you're using.

Also, I see your URL ends with .html. Why is that?

Lastly, try deactivating additional plugins you have installed to see if that helps.

Help! Since installing 1.2.0, my welcome text has disappeared. In the Appearance page, the tag is still set. But View Source shows it's just not in the DOM. Any ideas? See how-to-cook-with-vesna.com. Thanks!!

Open up header.php and change the following on line 124 from this...

if(is_front_page() && !$id == ''){

...to this...

if(!$id == ''){

How can I get the welcome text to appear on all pages, not just the home page?

I looked in header.php, and didn't see an immediately obvious way to do that without potentially screwing things up.

If you have a quick idea how I could display it on all pages, that would be great. I would be happy even to just hard code my text in.
