Hi there,

I've submitted an update that addresses some customizer issues. I've also adjusted the version number to "100.3.6" (which really is "1.3.6") to avoid conflict with similar-named themes.

Best,

Chris

Another possible solution or part of a solution in addition to above would be to "vault" over the Producer's theme version by going to 3.0 or beyond. I just did this in the style sheet updating it from 1.3.5 to 3.3.5.

Just to clarify, "Producer" is a generic keyword, and not the full name of the theme, which is more unique "The Producer", so changing the folder name to "the_producer" would in fact, help. However when I did this, then the theme options didn't work, in the "Customization" section. The logo and background images wouldn't change. So I'm having to go back to "producer".

Hi there,

Just to clarify, even if I name the folder "themolitor_producer_2341234123412341", there's nothing to prevent a WordPress theme developer from doing the same thing. The naming of the folder will not ultimately solve the core issue, which is that WordPress operates separately from ThemeForest.

I'll continue to look into this, though.

Best,

Chris

Your customers don't need an explanation, we need a permanent solution from you so this doesn't happen again. Otherwise all you're telling us is to find a theme with a more unique name to replace yours!

Hi there,

I appreciate the feedback, but saying this is a "hack job" is a little unwarranted. Changing the name to "the_producer" may help for now, but there's nothing to prevent another user on the WordPress theme network from using that same name later on.

The WordPress theme network operates separately/independently from ThemeForest. ThemeForest themes are not connected to the theme updates feature built into the WordPress dashboard, so you will only ever be notified of available ThemeForest theme updates via email (if you have notifications turned on).

Hope that helps explain things.

Best,

Chris

You need to rename your folder from "producer" (which conflicts with Kiran's Producer theme folder name) to appropriately titled "the_producer" to match your theme's proper name. Then there won't be a conflict with the WP update system. It's what I had to do to reinstall the theme through Wordpress.

Definitely a hack job that "The Molitor" needs to prevent asap before ruining your entire customer base: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0204j94l15

I found the owner of the domain via a Godaddy who is look up of antisocialmediallc.com: Kiran Gupta in India kiran.buzzify@gmail.com

Hi there,

This is a drawback of the WordPress system that looks for theme updates.

Currently, the best way to get notified of a theme update is via email notice from Envato. Be sure to have your notification settings turned on so that you get notified of when updates are available.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Chris

Yes, this happened to me as well. I did the same process of reinstalling the previous version with customization codes still active. Learned my lesson in double checking the version number as well as the author.

Hope you succeed in getting these hackers.

I have fixed it.

I reinstalled the previous version of the Theme and it's working now.

For some reason it's telling me there is an update for your theme The Producer (v1.3.4) to version 2.1.9.7 which is a massive jump. When I look at the details of the update, the update refers to a different template called Producer by antisocialmediallc.com.

How are the update notifications linked to a theme? Is it possible to unlink the update so that it doesn't have the wrong update associated with your theme?

Thanks
