Hi there,

Regarding questions about thumbnails, the thumbnails are 16:9 as well, so any adjustments you make to the image to be properly displayed in 16:9 for the background will also work and look good in the thumbnails.

@afewimages thanks for sharing :-)

Thanks!

Hi,

i have a lot of images in portrait mode also. My solution is this:
Make a new page (default template), give it a title (why not 'Gallery'?), add your images and make sure to link the thumbsize images to the size you want (medium, large). Add rel="PrettyPhoto" to the link and that's it. Then make a beautiful landscape crop of one of them and add it to the background of the page.
This works for me.

Just for the sake of conversation - quit whining..
Portrait and landscape photos don't fit in a paper portfolio exactly the same way either. You either have to turn the book on it's side, or use a smaller picture of the orientation that is different than your primary orientation.

Waaaah.

I am along with the majority that have posted here, displeased that there wasn't a better solution offered being that this is a photography theme.

Mauribix's solution would work for me, now just to find the settings to make the alteration needed.

I agree with everything here, I have many vertical photos and they seem to skip over issues concerning photos when this is a PHOTOGRAPHY theme. I can't get image size different no matter what I do. When I click on a thumbnail the image is sized to big. Why can't I change the size of the full size image??

Interesting post. I've purchased and lots of images are way outside of the screen when vertical. I must admit- a tad misleading in the demo when you think about it. Why do you not have any black bar converted image sin the demo? Oh yeah....that's right...as they would look like crap!

Any other work around or do we just have to display images that are not vertical?

A REAL BUMMER.

Chris, it's good to know that you're using that script called backstretch.
BUT since this is a theme intended to be used by photographers, why didn't you clearly tell that vertical (portrait) mode
is not supported since the beginning?

In this case I would have had an option at least from the beginning instead of waiting for a reply from you (me as many here).

I could have made the code modify (as I did), or I could have switched to another theme instead.

Well, adding black bars in the sides is not an option, I guess you may understand why, but to be correct, as you've been clear with everything, except for this, you should add a visible note in which you state that "Portrait mode is not supported as of this moment" at least.

Thanks,
Maurizio

Hey Steve,

The theme was built with the intention of displaying full width images in the capacity shown in the demo. The specific ratio allows big, beautiful images, along with great scaling capabilities and iPad viewing. While the theme does a whole lot and allows photographers a great website, it cannot solve every situation and some images will need to be adjusted to properly display on the site. The solution provided above shouldn't take too long, and will keep the integrity of the theme as well. If you do want some customization to accommodate your photos, please fill out the following form: http://themolitor.com/custom

Thanks,
Justin

Hi there,

This theme is using a 3rd party jQuery plugin called backstretch - http://srobbin.com/jquery-plugins/jquery-backstretch/ - which is the #1 approach used for showing fullscreen images.

The display limitations are due to the features of this script.

Thanks!

I agree with you, spotashnyk. I also bought the theme and is inconvenient to have to add black bars to the photos. Being a theme for photography and have purchased, this feature should be settled by the developer. He should provide this support.
I hope the developer makes a theme update that fixes this feature.
A greeting.

Hello

Its a bit of a pain to add black bars to all of the images... I just purchased this theme and i love it but the problem i am having a lot of my images are panoramas 6x15 and 6x17 formats... Is there another way, i would prefer not to have to reformat all my images just to post on the site?

Thanks

Hi there,

Since the theme displays based on the monitor size/resolution (the majority of which are 16:9), the best approach for properly displaying non-landscape images is to apply black bars on the side to convert the image to 16:9.

Thanks!
