The menu navigation is specific to the theme you're using. When you're using a child theme, WordPress treats it like a separate theme, so you need to go and create menu and select the menu you created in the drop down menu on the "menus" page.

Am having the same problem. I switch to the child theme and the top right navigation disappears.

Wish I knew about the child feature before!

I have an issue with it though

At the moment it only say

So in theory shouldn't make any changes what-so-ever, but mu top right navigation disappears when its turned on?

This update doesn't only include this new feature, but also addresses a couple reported issues (minor). I recommend you take note of your customizations and reapply them after you replace the files with the updated version.

Going forward, it's HIGHLY recommended that you use child themes to make customizations. This way you don't have to worry about losing your edits when upgrading. More info here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

In fact, what may be easier is if I can find out which files have changed, then Ill upload them individually.
