Switching post types was easy using Custom Post Type UI plugin but I still believe that the theme would benefit greatly with a built in custom posts type and it's own templates (single & archive. The theme does what it does really well but the map mashup nature of the theme lacks a info side to it. What I mean is...displaying location/details graphically is great (and IMHO the future) but article/info unrelated to a location are equally important.

In my specific case, I list contractors that provide a unique service on the map. There is also info related to the unique service that the contractors offer as free unique content. This is a huge SEO boost. This SEO issue would apply even if the site owner is providing their own content.

I'm going to MOD the theme myself to do all this but it would seem to be a reasonably simple addition to the theme and users uninterested in the separate post type could just use the default template.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting on the forums!

I took a look at what would be involved in converting The Navigator to use Custom Post Types instead of standard posts. Unfortunately it requires quite a bit of work to do that and goes beyond the level of support I'm able to provide.

I recommend converting to posts anyways because it will save you headaches like this in the future :-)

That said, if using Custom Post Types is an important feature for you, you're welcome to submit a customization request here: http://themolitor.com/customization-request

Best,

I was using a directory theme with tweaks and plugins to create a map styled UI. It’s been a constant source of problems. I purchased the theme to go the other direction and use a map theme as a directory. My problem is that the listings are custom posts types. There are also regular posts. Before I flip flop them in the DB, is there a simple way to use a custom post type versus post as the source of the map points?
