Glad you figured it out. BMP files are not a standard image format for the web, so I highly recommend sticking to JPEG, PNG, or GIF.

Okay, why is it that I can spend hours on a problem and the very INSTANT I post a question, I always seem to figure out the answer? LOL

Just for everyone's info, my problem was the image file type. Apparently the timthumb script does not allow for bmp images. The official answer I received from my host support was:

"...it appears Timthumb is only able to accept certain formats of images. BMP is not one of them.

You can see from this link here:
http://winnerumc.org/wp-content/themes/wpchurch/timthumb.php?src=http://winnerumc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/BibleStudyBoat.bmp&w=560&h=290&zc=1

That Timthumb is tossing an error about not being able to convert a BMP file. This does make a bit of sense actually. BMP files are large and uncompressed image files, so the network traffic required to serve them would be pretty high, so it would make sense that this was excluded from TimThumb. You should be able to download the BMP file and convert it to PNG or JPEG using Windows Paint if you would like."

Thanks for an awesome-looking theme, BTW. I'm a first-time website dummy so it's been a challenge, but it's really starting to take shape! Lots of compliments on your design from our congregation! :-)

I'm wondering if philmont91 ever discovered what the issue was? I'm working on a new site at http://www.winnerumc.org and am having the same problem. I contacted my host with the suggestions from the support forums on the timthumb script and they're telling me those changes were already in place and they can't find a problem.

I was hoping the previous post-er had figured it out and could point me in the right direction. :-)

I can confirm that this is NOT a theme issue with WordPress 3.0.1. I've successfully upgraded to the latest version without a hitch.

What this means is that it's a hosting issue that your encountering. If you followed the instruction laid out in the thread (http://tinyurl.com/ydykayk) than you'll need to contact your hosting provider to troubleshoot the issue.

Again, I can confirm this is NOT a theme issue with the latest version of WordPress.

Hello, I just purchased the theme this evening and I am having the same issue. I am running Wordpress 3.0.1 and uploaded the image just as was done in the video, however, nothing shows on the feature image section. In Firefox it just shows the title, and in IE it shows the red x and the title where the image should be.

Here is a link to our temporary site until the domain name fully registers:

Please let me know if you require any more information, and thanks for a great theme!

I did delete the images as well as any posts relating to this. I've done lots of customizing on the website, is it possible to backup and do a clean install on version 3?

I did run a full cpanel backup before upgrading should we need to go back to 2.8.5.

If you didn't edit any of the core files, then that shouldn't be the issue.

This is very strange. I've updated all my demo sites (7) without a problem, so this leads me to think it's hosting related.

When you re-uploaded the images, did you delete the original uploaded images?

I don't recall having to do that...where abouts in the wp-config/wp-settings.php files should I be changing? I do know I have adjusted the php.ini to allow larger file uploads.

Thanks

Very strange.

Some users had to increase the memory for their WordPress installation in the wp-config.php or wp-settings.php files in order to get the images to load. Do you recall having to do this?

If so, it's possible updating removed those edits.
