I don't see the large background anymore, but I do see a black outline. Try this...

    background: none;
    box-shadow: none;
}

The plugin is putting the buttons inside a form element. Not sure why, but that's why you see the extra background.

Try this in your Custom CSS box...

.wp-cart-button-form {
    background: none;
}

You'll see the "add to cart" buttons have large link areas around them.

Is there an option for turning off the gray boxes that appear around links? It's fine in text areas, but the boxes are large and distracting when combined with the paypal shopping cart plugin I'm using.
