Hi there,

The background video feature does not support audio. It's just meant to be a background decoration. Audio is not supported for the video background because there would be no way for users to control the volume for that media (since it's literally in the background of the content that sits above it).

The background video and audio feature of the theme are not intended/setup/designed to run in sync with each other. Please keep that in mind. They are totally separate from each other in terms of loading and playing on the site.

Hope that helps explain the setup a bit more.

Best,

Christopher

Hi, i uploaded a self hosted video, but i could not get the sound running. Only if i upload the sound seperately i hear it, but totally out of sync with the video. I thinking about that for weeks now... Please tell me what to do, is there a special encoding parameters? I use handbrake for weboptimizing my videos, so i could play with different parameters...

Thx

Hi there,

That sounds like a memory issue, which is controlled by either your WordPress or Hosting configurations (or possibly both).

One thing you can try is create a file named "php.ini" in the "wp-admin" directory of your WordPress installation. In the file, add the following...

upload_max_filesize = 64M;
post_max_size = 32M;

If that doesn't work, you could try increasing that value. Otherwise you'll need to contact your hosting provider.

Best,

Christopher

I attempted to upload the MP4 file, but it comes back as an HTTP error. Do you know what might be causing this? I can try to search the Wordpress forums, in case it's a general issue with WP. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Hi there,

The background video feature requires a self-hosted MP4 video. That is why you're having trouble using a YouTube video.

I believe there are ways you can download YouTube videos. Maybe try doing a google search for details?

Hope that helps!

Best,

I have a trailer video I'd like to use for the background video included with the theme. Can I use the YouTube link here? It seems to revert to the landscape image that came with the theme, when I do this. Thanks for your help!
