found the culprit - it was a line in my .htaccess (I'm a wordpress security nut, so I have a rather large .htaccess file)

would i get any sort of errors in my php log? I'm going to have a hard time getting any tech support from my host for a third party script

I can confirm that when the hosting is properly configured it works. Even though it's the same host, there can be different configurations from block to block.

are you sure? It's working fine here: http://www.sergiocunhamma.com (see the slider and the news section) this is hosted on the same block

If the support thread (reference: http://tinyurl.com/yd3ls8t) doesn't work, you'll have to contact rackspace to troubleshoot the issue as this would mean it's a hosting-related matter.

and unfortunately, the timthumb board is dead and overwhelmed with spam. My scripts folder is 777, my cache folder is 777, I've tried large and small images, deactivated and reactivated the theme, deactivated all plugins - nothing. I host with rackspace and have never had any problems with timthumb in other themes until now
