The theme does have proper image styling integrated. Hard-coded divs with inline width styles will override any theme-based styling, so that's why you had those issues.

The "Markup Image Alignment" example you provided has an image sitting inside a div with a hard-coded width, which will override any theme-based restrictions.

Regarding comments, try adding this to your Custom CSS box on the Customize page...

ul.children {margin-left:40px;}

I executed the Theme Unit Test (http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Unit_Test) in the Eventure. I saw that the theme don't follow the main Wordpress lineguides, like image resize when is bigger than the layout width and comments depth don't identate.

Do you do this improvements?
