Found another temporary solution – the issue seems to be caused by jquery migration (which admittedly, I don't really understand). There is a plugin designed to temporarily fix the issue: https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/

From The WordPress Team:

This may lead to unexpected behaviors in some themes or plugins who run older code. This plugin serves as a temporary solution, enabling the migration script for your site to give your plugin and theme authors some more time to update, and test, their code." --

I made a quick test site, and can confirm that it loads properly using this theme and Wordpress 5.5.1.

Chris and team: I totally understand my support on this theme has run out, so I'm happy to renew if that's what is preventing/delaying a response. I wasn't sure if the theme not working at all qualified as a personal support request or if that was just a basic function of the site that you would need to review regardless.

I can confirm that even with all plugins disabled, the issue persists. Downgrading to Wordpress 5.4.2 to solve the issue temporarily.
