It sounds like you just need to reenter your theme options information. If you don't see the theme options panel, it sounds like you either didn't properly update the theme or have the OptionTree plugin installed.

Shreek! I tried the reset button, but didn't commit the changes with the save button. Went on to playing with the offical facebook plugin, when I looked at my front page, all the categories and posts have disappeared. Disabled the facebook plugin, no change. Did the reset in theme options stuff this up? What can I do please?

Hi Chris, I wanted to experiment with activating the advertising banners, but I also can't see any options under Theme Options. Using 1.2.3 Daily Press. I followed all your instructions for the upgrade a while back, can you help?

Yeah, sorry about the hassle. I'm not very happy with how drastic the changes were to the OptionTree plugin. Caused a lot of headaches. Hopefully everything will be smooth sailing from here on out.

Chris, this did not work for me.

Chris, I am having the same problem as well. I can do the categories blind, but this is far from ideal when working with clients who are already taxing their limitations just using the backend at all. Is there are fix in the near future? Thanks! Great theme, by the way!

@clydeholler Try deleting the theme, flush the optionTree table (not wp-options) and then reinstall the theme.

Hi Chris, I've flushed the wp-options database and resolved the permissions problem. Can you help me troubleshoot the issue of the theme options not appearing? All I see are the two buttons for "reset options" and "save changes." Thanks.

While the issue may sound very similar, the solution might be completely different since this thread is for a different theme.

Please start a new thread in the Navigator forum and I'll be happy to troubleshoot with you.

Chris - I have uploaded your The Navigator theme, but when I select Appearance ==> Theme Options, the screen is blank... It appears to be the same problem as maximmatthew. I have tried resetting options... no avail. How was mximmatthew able to get this working? Thanks..

The "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page." message is an indicator of a larger issue. That isn't a theme-related thing, so you should first address that by searching WordPress support forums.

Let me know once you have that worked out and I'll troubleshoot existing issues with you.

Thanks. I should have been clearer. I understand that I should not have installed OptionTree. But it didn't work before I installed it, either, not for the past week I've spent trying to make the theme options appear. Could you please re-read my previous post and see if you can tell me what to do to make it work? It does not work in either IE or Chrome. It isn't a compatibility problem with WP 3.5.1 is it? None of the fixes on this or other posts has seemed to resolve the problem for me. Thanks.

Installing the OptionTree plugin will cause database conflicts as OptionTree is already built into the theme (the latest versions of the theme do not instruct you to install the plugin).

You'll need to use PhpMyAdmin to remove the option tree tables from your database.

I am having trouble with the theme options not appearing. If the fix is here on this thread, I don't understand it. I am running the latest version of WP and PHP is 5.3. When I log in through the WP login page, I see nothing under theme options. When I log in through the login page in the page template, I get the message "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page." Despite the fact that I'm logged in as an admin. I installed OptionTree, and I see the theme options, but I see that is supposed to be built in and there is a bit of a learning curve with the OptionTree plugin. Can you tell me what my problem is?

Do you still see the title for each option (just not the input field)? If so, this is just a CSS conflict. The options are still there, it's just not visible due to CSS added in the latest version of WordPress. You can still click in the space where the options are and save your changes.

yes, intuitively i've done that right after submitting the problem here; clicked spaces below each 'category 2', 'category 3', etc., and determined the proper categories in a "blind mode". :) it works perfectly; however, if possible, i still want the boxes to display there before handing over the website to my client.

The boxes should still be there. Try clicking in the space they should be appearing and you should still be able to select a category.

I'm not quite sure why they aren't appearing though. I'll look into it. The good news is that the functionality is still there.

i've upgraded to wp 3.5 and the php is php 5.3.16. i also have tried to install the theme on a fresh wp 3.5 installation, and i still can not manage this homepage category.

any suggestion?

Experienced a similar issue. Theme Options was showing a fatal error. Running PHP5+. Upgrading to WP3.5 solved the issue.

@inaleemz Another user solved a similar problem with a different theme. I'm curious if it will help you...

"I always installed WP 3.2.1 from my providers cpanel and than updated to 3.5 now. I did it manually and used a downloaded version. now I see the theme options."
