In the documentation there is a link:

Activate the theme from your admin panel by navigating to "appearance" > "themes".
NOTE: If you get a message like “stylesheet missing” (it isn’t) or “broken theme” (it’s not), please read this post: http://tinyurl.com/2aymgju

I thought it was referring to the api key thing, I have absolutely no idea where to go form there. I can't acivate Nocturnal because,
as I said before, it says the theme is broken or incomplete

Sorry, I'm not sure what you're referring to about the API key. Nocturnal doesn't require an API. Can you provide more details?

I know it said to follow the instructions under the link to the API key thing. I generated an API key, but now what?
Why is this all so complicated, even registering here? How can I get this theme (nocturnal) to work???
