Hi there,

Do not install the OptionTree plugin. It's built into the theme already, so any mention I make of OptionTree is referring to the version already installed in the theme. Sorry if that's confusing.

I understand this is a frustrating experience for you and I apologize for that. Please keep in mind that ultimately this isn't a theme-related issue (i.e. there are no bugs to fix), but has to do with your unique environment and trying to figure out what needs to be changed or adjusted.

Users who have issues tend to be very vocal here on the forums, but the truth is the issues they have are unique each time and the vast majority of users have no issues with the theme options at all, so this particular issue is difficult to troubleshoot. This issue is also database/server-side related, which is not my strong side (I'm a front-end guy).

One thing that other users have tried is using the "WP Database Reset" plugin to clean up the wp-options table in their database after deleting the plugin (not the built-in version). If you try this, it's IMPORTANT to make sure your database AND website files are backed up before you make any changes.

Let me know if that helps at all.

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris,

My PHP version is 5.2.17. MySQL version is 5.1.69-cll.

Sorry, but I thought you said above not to install the OptionTree plug in??? So - should I install OptionTree plugin or not?

You said above that installing the plugin might cause issues like this. "Hi there, Thanks for the screenshot. Just to clarify, you didn't install the OptionTree plugin, correct? Installing the plugin might cause issues like this. Let me know. Chris"

Right now the plugin in NOT installed. Has not been installed on any new installation since you told me not to install it. Each time I have installed your theme the install has used a fresh database and plugins have been installed.

I'm confused and becoming quite frustrated when it seems that you may not be paying any attention to what you are recommending or my responses to your recommendations. This is quite time consuming as another poster commented. Could you please provide clear instructions on what you expect me to do to keep troubleshooting as you suggest above.

Thank you.

@00G I see you resolved this issue in another thread. Providing details would likely benefit other users like @yazooed above.

@yazooed I'm not aware of any bugs with this theme, so let's continue troubleshooting this issue...

Eventure is using the OptionTree system for the theme options panel. The Twenty Eleven theme doesn't use this feature, so how that theme behaves doesn't have any impact on whether or not there are issues with Eventure.

The OptionTree system requires PHP 5.0+ on your hosting. Can you verify that you have PHP 5+? Also, @OOG above posted in another thread saying they resolved the issue doing a "database clearance". I'm not sure what that means or what impact that might have, but it's something to look into (I asked that they provide more details).

Thanks!

Hi again Chris,

Final post for the day. Please also see my two new posts above.

In the new installation/new database that I put up this morning, I noticed that one of the free themes that comes with Wordpress (Twenty Eleven) also has a theme options which is working. The other themes I tested didn't have a theme options option.

Twenty Eleven theme options window > http://i39.tinypic.com/3531bfs.png

Eventure theme options window > http://i44.tinypic.com/mtnoye.png

It really does look like there is a bug with Eventure's theme options window.

Kind regards,

Joel

Hi again Chris,

I forgot to mention that I ran diagnostics on both the new databases in case there were issues with them. Nothing showed up. All other websites in my hosting are working as normal.

I have also tried various browsers in case that was the problem with being able to view the theme options. IE 10 and Chrome.

I have also installed 3 other themes on the new Wordpress installation I put in today in case any of their bits and pieces didn't work either (which would point to something nasty being wrong with my hosting databases) but they all worked fine.

The only other thing I can think of now is to purchase different hosting and try installing it there but that seems a bit extreme and I would have to repoint the domain name at the new hosting.

It's a bit frustrating isn't it?

Kind regards,

Joel

Hi Chris,

It was installed on a fresh database, exactly as you instructed.

Today, I have freshly installed the theme on a completely different domain to test (freshly created database again). There are no plug ins installed and I am having exactly the same problem. http://i43.tinypic.com/351xzpx.png

Do you think there might be some sort of bug with the theme options area? Other people seem to have had similar issues according to their posts here.

Kind regards,

Joel

Hi there,

Uninstalling WordPress/plugins/themes won't make a difference because they issue is in your database.

As I mentioned above: "At this point, my best suggestion would be to start over on a fresh database as I don't have enough database knowledge to advise next steps without possibly causing additional issues. Some users have had success using a database reset plugin called "WP Database Reset", but haven't tried it myself."

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your help with this.

I have uninstalled and then reinstalled Wordpress, uploaded the theme and there are no plug-ins installed. Wordpress is the most recent version.

Still having the same problem.

Here's a screen shot of what I see in theme options > http://i43.tinypic.com/351xzpx.png

Hi there,

Unfortunately installing/activating the plugin may cause conflicts as the plugin is already included in the theme as of v1.0.3.

Simply uninstalling/deactivating won't help as the database has already been changed.

At this point, my best suggestion would be to start over on a fresh database as I don't have enough database knowledge to advise next steps without possibly causing additional issues. Some users have had success using a database reset plugin called "WP Database Reset", but haven't tried it myself.

Hi Chris,

First when there was nothing on the theme options page I read through this forum. I did install the OptionTree plugin as someone else here suggested that in an earlier support post.

Before I installed it, there was simply nothing on the page at all. After installation is what is shown in the first screenshot.

I have now uninstalled it and here is the screenshot.

Hi there Chris,

My friend picked this theme for his website. Seems to be quite a bit of hand coding involved but that might be because I am having a couple of problems. My Theme Options window is not working and I have uploaded a screenshot at the link.

I am hoping that if we can get this working then it will save all my problems!

Please let me know what you think I should do.

Many thanks,
