I'm mainly referring to utilizing sub category pages to break items up into different groups. In the demo site, you can see an example of this in the drop down menu at the top (those are just category links).

Thanks!

also interested in what is a loading.
I have all of my 190 posts loading with the site and it performs well. I guess I can't go much higher. What strategy should I take after reaching 200?

Thanks for the reply.

Your recommendation does does make sense, however it must be an IE or theme issue as it displays all posts in google chrome and other browsers no problems at all.

So this is defintley not a google map limitation, Its NOT a server limitiation and its not as far as I can assertain a WP limitation.

I shall investigate further and provide a solution if possible. Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

The theme is setup to display 5,000 posts (controlled in the "script.php" template file). If you're not seeing anything beyond 297 items, that is either a WordPress limitation, a hosting/server limitation and/or a Google maps limitation. It is not anything being restricted by the theme.

Again, just to reiterate, the function controlling the number of items that display is a standard WordPress function that allows you to enter a "showposts" number. This theme has that setting at 5000, so I can confirm this is NOT a theme issue.

All that said, I HIGHLY recommend you not exceed 200 posts on a single loading. While I'm not privy to your business needs, I'm guessing you can break items up into smaller groups based on characteristics or features of different items. In any case, you reach a point where you might not only cause server-side issues with memory, but might encounter unexpected client-side issues when you're loading that much content. Just a bit of advice :-)

Hope that helps!

Chris

Hi Justin,

Thanks so much for responding.

I've read over the link you've provided, however, I'm not sure how that applies to my situation. I already went through the tedious process of loading the 430 posts entered in the system.

The problem I am experiencing is when I actually try to load the page, it only displays the first 297 before it fails. If I add 10 new posts, the oldest 10 of the 297 drop off. This seems more of some type of loading limitation on a single category.

Here's a direct link to the page: http://postalpatriots.com/category/2011-closures/

If you do a Right Click 'View Source' on the page header, when it comes back, you'll see that the 430 entries are in the page, it's just that only the first 297 display.

I've gone over the data time and again and it does not seem to be data related as each post will load separately and in groups by the state tag.

Regards.

Hi. I am unable to exceed 297 items in a category (2011 Closings). I checked the page source for typos and data errors, I added numerous additional posts, confirmed that there aren’t any non-Google Map pages or posts added to the category, confirmed that all 430 posts within the category are accounted and can be loaded, both individually and when accessed by the main page’s Tag Cloud – which are broken down at the state level. If I add new posts, they are presented first and the displayable last posts are no longer selected, keeping the post count constantly at 297. I saw posts about non-Map posts and pages causing the Google Maps to display in France and this does not appear to be the issue. I also have another category with 227 posts (2012 Planned Closings) and that works well (sans the 1 minute page load time).

I’m quite perplexed and am reaching out for help.

The site is: postalpatriots.com

Note: This issue has been experienced for a few days, while I continued to add post entries, and prior to adding several of the widgets on the system. Thanks.
