Sure, you can add some inline style there. Do this:

<p style="font-size: 14px;"> [your text logo here]</p>

Replace 14 with the size you desire.

Nope, you should be fine without a Child Theme. Just make sure you backup your Header.php file, just in case.

You're going to remove this line:

<img id="logo" src="<?php echo $logo;?>" alt= "<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>" />

It's after <!--LOGO-->

And you're going to put in <p>Your text logo here</p>

You can edit the Header.php file and hardcode the text in place of the Option Tree call in the code. Do you feel comfortable editing code? I can tell you the line to edit, etc...
