I haven't had a chance to do it just yet, but the WCK Custom Fields plugin is a must have and makes it so users don't to break any wordpress code to add taxonomies. I used it for regions already on my site, but I plan on breaking it down into a secondary set of categories that directly references my existing categories. That way I can bypass the glitch I was encountering from the widget bar. I will post back here when I get that all sorted out and working, but here is a link to the plugin for other users...

Thanks for the response. I am currently trying something new by adding my own taxonomies for a secondary set of categories to match, but won't affect the actual categories. Hopefully by working with taxonomies it will help avoid any interactions with your theme, but still maintain full user functionality.

Hi there,

Interesting. WordPress must be adding a script to the page for the widget to work that way. I didn't know it did that. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a way to override the WordPress widget script with my own.

My best suggestion is to remove the category widget and use the menu as a way to navigate different categories (this is done on the demo site for reference).

Hope that helps.

Best,

Chris

I found what causes the issue, but now I just need some help fixing it. If you put a category widget in your sidebar, it causes the one in the front end submission form to act the same (making any selection from the dropdown activates and takes you to that specific category page).

NOTE:
The only major changes I have made are the ones to keep the sidebar open at all times and move the map zoom controls to the left hand side. Other than that, I did not make any major changes that should have caused this little glitch to happen, but I thought it would be helpful for you to possibly debug this. Thank you in advance

I am having a wee bit of an issue on my Submit Location form. I was testing it out and filled out the form, but the second I went to select a category from the dropdown list, it activated and sent me to the page of that specific category. I noticed that on your sample theme it doesn't do that. It's like if I were to be filling out your submit location form, select the category "Africa", and it sends me to the Category page for Africa. Is there a way to make mine stop doing this?
