Ok, finally got it figured. Turns out that I had the Theme Options all done correctly; I ended up doing this (quoted from an earlier post on the same issue by themolitor)

'Following the help file, just create a custom field with “category” as the name and the name of the category as the value.'

It looks as if you need to separate the categories for your blog and slider. If you open up the Option Tree settings (Option Tree > Theme Options > Slider) you will see "Slider Category". Make sure that you select a category which is different than your blog posts.

Hi, I saw a similar post already on here but it gave no indication as to how it was solved. My slider posts appear in the blog post listings; I'd like to not have them show up. I feel like the solution is probably an easy one, I just am missing it completely. I'm looking for a way to have all categories show EXCEPT for the slider posts...Your help is greatly appreciated!
