Hey Chris,

So, I 've included the wp_head() again and the problem occurred once more. I then found/replaced all the $id variables inside the header.php with something else (other than $id because it is common e.g. $welcome_id) and it worked like a charm.

I am guessing that if the problem is caused by a plugin, then this would be WPML since it is the only plugin I have installed for the site.

I think that in a future update of your theme, you should consider changing the variable name since WPML is being used by many users.

I've commented out the wp_head() call and it seems to be working just fine. I only need your confirmation that the wp_head call is indeed unnecessary.

Strange the selection isn't being stored. That sounds like a WordPress issue as the theme is using the WordPress theme customizer.

I also changed the id in the query (header.php line 131) so it would not take the $id parameter but the actual number of the page id and it works. It seems like the id is not stored.

You 're right, this was from a previous theme installed. I have deleted it and now it's back to default. But still no difference.

Site translation is being achieved through WPML.

Looking at your source code, I see you're using a page template called "Page-home.php". This isn't a built-in page template. I wonder if that's the cause of the problem.

Have tried deactivating plugins?

I created a page for that space but it keeps ignoring it. I assign it to the Home Page tab > "Page to display in header". It just ignores it.

I noticed that in header.php line 124, the code checks if it is a front page and the id is not blank. Could it be that the id is not stored from settings? Just a thought.

I changed that from Appearance > Customize but nothing happens. It still shows the same page twice.
Should I assign the pages with a different template? They are now both set to default.

The static page however, is being displayed twice: Once in the header and again in the middle column.

To change the home page, navigate to "settings" > "reading" and select a static front page there. You can disregard the "Posts page" option.

To change the header color, navigate to "apperance" > "customize" and in the colors tab you can change the accent color there.
