or is there a way to have the featured posts on the right hand side attached to a page rather than have a featured image in the middle ?

is there a way to hide it from displaying in the blog posts? if you click on blog there will be the sam image displayed on every post might look abit silly lol

Ah, that's supposed to be the featured image for each post. You would literally need to assign the same image as the feature image in each of your posts.
