Hey there, I took a look at the site and it looks really awesome. In my oppinion, I would leave the responsive nature, here's why:

1) Users that load it up on an ipad will still see the background (1024 x 768)
2) Users that view it on a smart phone will really only see the content area

If you think about it, anyone in between is going to be such a small percentage that it really shouldn't matter. I would say it's more important to serve up the content in a simple to read manner, rather than making your users pinch and zoom to read it. At the end of the day that content is what is important.

That's my opinion anyhow. You would need to fill out a customization request form here: http://themolitor.com/custom. The knowledge it takes to undo the responsive code is actually beyond my skillset.

Thanks,
Justin

I understand it is probably not a simple fix, but I know its possible. I was just hoping to get some direction from you guys before I start ripping things up and writing exceptions to make it happen. I have done quite a bit of styling already, but nothing terribly structural. Getting a static background would solve alot of my problems...help if you can, even if its just "look here" or what where to quote stuff out...anything really.

Not possible without customization. This theme is responsive, which is a key selling feature, undoing that would take some time.

I would like to make the main background image (and accompanying bg images) static, so they don't scale when the window size is changed, is this possible. The idea is to make it appear as if the journal is sitting on a desk. My current version is here http://www.mountainfall.com. Not sure if it is possible with it being dynamic as it is, but if I can edit the jquery to make it happen I would like to give it a go.
