Hmm, odd you can't control the order with WordPress 3.5. Unfortunately that is something WordPress controls, so I'm not aware of a better solution than what you posted. Thanks for sharing, though!

so does this mean that if you get the order wrong in the first place, you can't change it retroactively?

No, there's not. I figured out how to do it though.

For anyone else with the problem - add one song at a time, making sure to "x" out and update the post/page each time. Add the songs in the order you want them to appear.

Before you close out of the gallery, is there a save button or anything for you to save your changes?

Hi Chris,

Yeah I did drag them. They were in the right order when I closed out of the gallery. They just reorder on the post and I'm not sure why.

Are you clicking and dragging the thumbnails in the gallery pop-up window to change the order?

I haven't played with the 3.5 gallery system that much, so I'm still learning how it's setup.

I am adding mp3s here: http://www.anemometermusic.com/
And the songs are not staying in the correct order. If you hover over them, you can see that the numbers are off. I have tried deleting and reuploading but the same thing happens.

I have also tried reordering them in the edit panel on the media gallery right after I upload them. Still doesn't work.

I'm running wordpress 3.5
