I have reinstalled the template but im clearly doing something wrong because the post text is not being pulled into the slider :( ideas?

The text comes from the main content box, on the post edit screen.

Im trying to add an item to the slider. I have watched the http://themeforest.net/item/wordpress-politico/full_screen_preview/139979 video and it says I need to add the post into the "Slider" category.

I created that category, and added a post into it but the slider image comes up (featured image) but no text. Where do I set the text or decide where to pull the text from?
