I decided to try something different to get this going again.

I copied my CSS file and placed the CSS Rules under Custom CSS Options in the Theme Options. The slider continues to work this way.

However, with this method. I don't have access to the child theme which contains other important files and modifications to the theme.

That is, I have created some posts as page templates (that is, all posts with the category id of news will automatically show up on the news page). I also want to modify the header.php file to make room for a larger logo and modify the footer.php

My concern is that if update the theme at some point these templates and edits to the header and footer php files may be lost.

What is the best way to proceed? I've been taught to make child themes and place modified files within the child theme folder; however, I learned today that you should not make a child theme of a child theme (Studio Press).

Please advise. Thank you

Hello Chris,

Thank you for replying. I disabled all the plugins and uploaded a clean version of the theme as you suggested.

Unfortunately, when I re-activate the child theme I've created the slider stops working. I thought perhaps it was one of the files in the child themes which consist of a style.css, a footer.php (used to edit the footer notation) and a screenshot.png file.

First, I removed the footer.php file. The slide still did not work. Though it seems unlikely, I am wondering if there is something in my style.css file that might be causing the problem.

See below:

Please help. I am not sure what I've done wrong.

The slider is not working in Chrome. Here is the link to the site: http://www.design3088.com/ncf-sandbox/

It works fine in Firefox and Safari.

I checked to see if other plugins might be causing the problem. I deactivated Lizatom Shortcodes and Really Simple Captcha, but to no avail.

Please help.

Thanks,
Tumikia
