You can try using this theme without AJAX. Simply omit the use of the "nextpage" feature and that might make a difference. Keep in mind, though, AJAX might not be the only possible script-related issue that conflicts with Jetpack.

Just to clarify what's going on... Jetpack is a group of plugins that do a lot of different things. As a result, it's very bloated and loads a ton of stuff that doesn't jive well with themes that have advanced scripting features (like AJAX pagination, for example).

From my end, MISC is built with standards compliant markup, so there isn't anything to "fix" really. Most plugin-related issues users will experience with this particular theme are related to its use of AJAX as that is a very advanced feature that is difficult for plugin developers to account for (especially since AJAX isn't employed the same way every time it's used).

Since the problem lies with the plugin, unfortunately this isn't something I have the bandwidth to troubleshoot since I have no developer knowledge of the plugin.

I hope that sheds some additional light on the issue.

so Chris, what is the fix for this besides turning off JetPack? I like using JetPack and have for a while. Is there not a fix on your end that can be done? What a bummer to have to stop using a plugin just because I purchased a new theme. Thanks.

I jumped in and saw that you have a lot of plugins installed. Try deactivating those to see if that addresses the issue. Deactivating one-by-one would be ideal, so that you can pinpoint a specific plugin as the possible cause.

I would start with Jetpack (notorious for causing conflict issues with themes).

I've tried multiple pages. Here's my page content for "top-page":

It looks like the problem is with the page you're trying to use. It doesn't appear to be displaying properly. Maybe there are errors in the page content?

Have you tried selecting a different page for the header area to see if that works?

What I meant by a direct link was a link to the single individual page (not the tab on the main home page).

Try changing your permalinks settings to "month and name" in the WordPress dashboard.

I can see it try to load, with a test button in there, but then the blue covers it.
