After deactivating Jetpack plugin everything is back to normal. I'm guessing Jetpack updated and broke things?

Hi, I've tried everything from reposting previous content to changing slider settings and category. I just want it to show the newest 5 posts (so no particular category selected). It worked for a while but broke last week. I noticed someone else seems to be having the exact same problem. I re-uploaded the Politico theme files directly into the wp-content/themes/wppolitico directory to make sure it wasn't just a corrupt file.
Any ideas?
