Susan,

You need to go to General Settings > and checkoff "Anyone Can Register". That should do it :)

Hi, Justin,

I realized later that I forgot to give you the full info. Sorry. I also realized when looking for this post again that I put it in the wrong area. It should be under the WordPress section. Also sorry.

I've also now removed the registration requirement, because it wasn't working correctly; but I'll change the settings again in the morning, before you see this.

The web-site is the good, old http://www.alec-destroys-democracy.org. It's using WP 3.3.1.

Thanks for your help,
Susan

Hi,

I see how to set the screen options for allowing comments on a page, and I see the setting for Discussions to require users to have to register and log in before leaving a comment. The trouble is, when I set these, all that happens is that a user is forced to log in without being given a chance to register.

Doesn't your theme have a registration procedure built into it?

I see something about it within the Comment.PHP code, but I don't know this coding; so I'm not sure exactly what it's doing except checking to see if Comment_Registration exists.

In any case, if I set the screen options to show the comment box, click the box to allow comments, and select the Discussion setting to require website visitors to register and log on before leaving a comment, shouldn't Politico produce a registration form or page for them?

Thanks so much for you help,
Susan
