I spoke too soon ... it does not work. I ended up going with FIA Gallery instead. So far so good. It seems to override the prettyPhoto application. I did not dislike prettPhoto ... just wanted something more robust with the capability of organizing my photos with a file structure and append data to them.

I commented out the whole block of code in ../wpnavigator/scripts/custom.js in comments as the poster above mentioned and for good measure

just renamed the prettyPhoto.js and css files and NextGen works fine.

Hi Justin

Yes and this isn't a solution. I think the poster was refering to using a short code in the post body.

If I might just expand on this - your stement of not guaranteeing 3rd party plugins I totally agree with, there are just far too many out there and many are badly coded and buggy. However - wordpress media manager is IMO it's achilles heel, in the short time I have used wordpress media has been the one area which would make me want to avoid using it.

It appears I am not alone in my thinking and with Nextgen now having Downloads of 4,723,768 it's becoming more a weapon of choice in the plugin field. I would have thought that theme developers would be spotting this niche selling point because I am seeing so many references to people having to ditch themes because the media aspect lets the theme down.

I create sites from themes and work mainly with artists and photographers and the remit is always the same 'I must be able to deal with my images easily - I don't want to be wasting time' as soon as a site ends up using media library the end user starts complaining, hence the use of Nextgen, it's the answer to a photographers prayers.

One of the features of Navigator that is so appealing is the gallery, in my application of the theme it's crucial. If I have to delete a gallery and then re create each time I want to alter the gallery it will render the theme completly useless. A site with a dozen pages would be a possibility but hundreds - not a chance. The theme will be mothballed with no practical use being available and with the potential it has this is criminal.

Being able to enter a gallery short code into the gallery field is all that this theme would require and in my opinion open a whole new market to the theme. Just my ten cents worth.

Regards

Did you try the suggested method above? We cannot guarantee 3rd party plugins will work with the site.

Did you get this working?

I want to use Nextgen so that I can create a gallery for each post the idea being that I can then add to each post gallery without having to go through the process of having to delete a gallery and then re create a gallery just because I have several new photos to add. This could become a real pain with a few hundred posts.

I can post directly to the body of the post with next gen shortcode but I presume the post is using an attachment for the gallery and it's obviously created on the fly. Would love to implement the capabilities of nextgen but want to use the function of the gallery tab.

Keeping on subject as anyone duplicated the gallery so that a public and private gallery could be displayed or a gallery 1 and gallery 2 senario on flyout menu

Regards

Hi. Your theme is great.
I'm working on it for my website.
How can I remove prettyphoto? I would use nextgen gallery. At the moment it's opening two images at the same time.
