Opening the single.php with notepad++ the line that involves class="icon-user" and needs to be commented out (?) is line 82. Is this because of a newer version of the file? Anyway, works for me as well!

you're talking about the author name in the sidebar right? if yes

Open the single.php file and remove or comment out line 58
