Now that the theme is using the built-in WordPress thumbnail system, it doesn't "stretch" images to fit the space exactly. If the original size of the image is smaller than the featured space, it will fit either horizontally or vertically (which ever needs to be shrunk to fit the space).

What I recommend doing is preparing the images to fit the dimensions of the featured section as outlined in the help file. In some cases, this may mean making a wider or taller version of the image.

I understand this is an extra step for those upgrading from previous versions, but this is a better system to be using, so trust me, it's worth it :-)

I'm also wondering about the thumbnail/featured post images that WP University used to generate- I made the images in the post the featured images as per the documentation with the upgrade, but now the images in the slider don't fill the preview space like they used to- it's liked they've been resized to the max height of the preview window and left aligned.

Ideas?

Be sure to select your menu in the drop down on the left (wasn't there in previous versions).

It's still called Main, and it's still there under the custom menu tab with all its options, it's just not showing up on the site...
