Ok, I found another solution because I had the same problem with my archive. I pu this code in functions.php :

/* Function for changing post order */
function modify_query_order( $query ) {
      $query->set( 'orderby', 'date' );
      $query->set( 'order', 'ASC' );
}
add_action( 'pre_get_posts', 'modify_query_order' );

Just to clarify, I'm referring to not just assigning a category to posts on the post edit page but assigning a main event category on the Customize page (appearance > customize).

Nevermind, I figured it out by setting the main category in the "Customize" area. Thanks!

Why the post appear in Descending order?

This is the code of my archive.php:

if($eventCat && !is_search() && in_category($eventCat)){query_posts($query_string . '&order=ASC');}

However my events appear in descending order:

http://www.conciertosmalaga.com/category/en-directo/

When I choose a category of event, the post itself is sorted correctly but I have not selected event category because I need all the categories displayed in the calendar and in the form submit event page.

Any solution?
