Your first questions would require some sort of plugin to achieve.

For your second question, open "header.php" and locate/remove the line containing the following: <?php wp_list_categories(...);?>

Also, If I do not use any of the categories, but instead use pages in the navigation menu how do I remove the black no categories box? Thank you.

I love the site design. I am having a logistic problem. You can only post a blog post to a category and not a page. Is there a way to do this differently. I would like to have my post go to specific pages I have made and not categories as the categories cannot have additional text as well as the post. I am new to all this and really hoping there is a way to do this.
