Chris Greetings, I am chugging along here and I am starting to understand the them.. Nice..

Is there a way to make every post in every category put its post in a "Portfolio" format? as opposed to single lined up format.

I would like to have all my post in ever category line up in Portfolio format.

thanks..

it will create a list of posts in a category- its very versatile and it might increase the linking between portfolio pieces
you can see what the plugin does here:

Thanks for all your help! Since I've been messing with this so much to figure out what's going on, in the end SOMEHOW I ended up fixing it, but I'm not even quite sure what I did that fixed it. It wasn't the thumbnail size though because I tried to change it several times in desperation. haha. Anyhow, it works now.

I'm not really sure what that plugin does? As I said, I'm new to all this so I went briefly into the plugin's site but it kinda read like "blah blah blah" to me cause I barely understood what it does. :)

1.) "right, but the images are smaller than the titles and I'm trying to figure out how to make it even-looking. "

in media settings >> thumbnail size >> 150px by 150px and don't click on the exact dimension radio box; that might fix it...

2.) "I did do edits to the theme so it loads the post page instead of enlarging images since I believe that the video would not work"

you are correct- as near as i can tell- if your vid is hosted elsewhere - i suspect the video will not load into the thickbox.

the original unedited theme (except for css) i can't quite figure out how molitor got his video to work in the thickbox unless the video was uploaded through wordpress. (see my frontpaqe test on http://vanredin.com/buddy/ it links back to the actual post)
the portfolio category- the video does not load- only the thumbnail
and any category- the thumbnail links back to the post itself.

one way to increase interconnectivity so that your visitors can navigate your offerings is adding the catlist plugin and use the shortcode

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/list-category-posts/

i hope this helps somehow...

That's the address to see one of my vids on vimeo's website. Since I have all my videos embedded from there I thought I would let you get the embedding code, or do whatever you have to do (cause I have no idea!!). I don't have an actual URL from wordpress since it is just embedded. Is that what you're asking for??

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your help and time!!

Mimieux:

All my videos are embedded from Vimeo, they're not uploaded to wordpress so it's not a short URL like the images are. Did you want the entire url from vimeo? Or you can just grab a random video from vimeo? Let me know...I'm not sure exactly what you would need. But I really, really appreciate you taking the time in helping me out!!

BennyBlanco: I've tried to change the thumbnail images myself and it did not work for me to fix the problem we are having. But you have images, not videos, so I'm not entirely sure if we're having the exact same problem so MAYBE that would work for you?

Hi, thank you for the replies.
I'm still confused but I haven't done the test pages yet with just images as mimieux suggested. I'll try and see if that works. I don't have any plugins installed so that shouldn't be the issue. I would like for the images to appear as you have them on your site:

http://vanredin.com/buddy/?cat=7

I did do edits to the theme so it loads the post page instead of enlarging images since I believe that the video would not work (am I right about that? Only images can be displayed in that manner?). I want people to have the least amount of clicking possible to get to the work samples.

Thank you!!

It might be a plugin conflict- what do you have installed? or it might be a video thing- have you tried creating a few test pages with just images?

that is the result using the portfolio template (or the portfolio category);

http://vanredin.com/buddy/?cat=7

if you create a gallery and insert the gallery in a post then you will get something like this:

http://vanredin.com/buddy/?p=167

this is a temporary test post so it may not be there in the far future... ;-)

It looks like you made some edits to the theme (i.e. clicking images don't enlarge the image but loads the post page). It's possible you made an edit that effected the thumbnails.

Hi,

I'm new to wordpress and website making in general and I created a portfolio category and it ALMOST looks right, but the images are smaller than the titles and I'm trying to figure out how to make it even-looking. You will understand what I'm talking about if you go to the page: http://www.amcsound.com/category/portfolio/
How can I make the thumbnails the same size as the titles under them to be equal length?

Thank you for your help! I love your theme.
