@contivision your customization of the theme at http://trialsmap.org is mighty impressive. I had previously made a post in the forum about sorbability features like the "Trial Legend" you have on yours ... this is exactly what I was looking for. Was this an insance amount of customization to a lot files or is it something you'd be willing to share? THANKS!

The clustering can be stylized easily as long as the code is included in the template, but otherwise not very easy to incorporate if you are unfamiliar with writing code...
Clustering would be very nice as I could cut page navigation down, instead of having to have multiple pages to show 100 markers at a time.

Anyone actually get this incorporated easily?

Yeah i had it working but i had to write all the code again for the mapping system and that is not something you want to do. It was a big mess.

here is a link to the website where i tested it. http://trialsmap.org

Currently its not pulling more than 1149 but i have tested it for far more pins.

This makes perfect sense. Thanks you!
I went through the database and found the "Posts" and "Postmeta" for a different add-on I am looking into.

After this code I would replace some of the other code toward the bottom of the code with code similar to the example data you have provided above.

It was very generous of you to take the time to put this together!! Thanks again!
Do you have your site listed anywhere? I'd be interested in seeing what you have done so far.

well, do you some PHP programming ?

If you do, you can generate and array of Javascript coming from DB using PHP.

In your script.php, where its written

add(jQuery(this), number += 1, "<?php the_title(); ?>", "<?php the_permalink() ?>","<?php if($data[ 'address_one' ]){ echo $data[ 'address_one' ].""; } ?><?php echo $data[ 'address_two' ]; ?>","<?php echo $data[ 'latitude' ]; ?>","<?php echo $data[ 'longitude' ]; ?>", '<?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?>','<?php echo $pin2;?>');<?php endwhile; else:?>

This is the code where the JS gets the data from PHP.

So, you can create a JS array like this:

Replace this code

if ($customList->have_posts()) : while ($customList->have_posts()) : $customList->the_post();
 $data = get_post_meta( $post->ID, 'key', true );
 if($data[ 'pin' ]){$pin2 = $data[ 'pin' ]; } else {$pin2 = $pin;}
 ?>
 add(jQuery(this), number += 1, "<?php the_title(); ?>", "<?php the_permalink() ?>","<?php if($data[ 'address_one' ]){ echo $data[ 'address_one' ].""; } ?><?php echo $data[ 'address_two' ]; ?>","<?php echo $data[ 'latitude' ]; ?>","<?php echo $data[ 'longitude' ]; ?>", '<?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?>','<?php echo $pin2;?>');<?php endwhile; else:?>
 alert('You need to add posts to display on the map.');
<?php endif; ?>

...With...

?>
var myData_array = new Array();
<?php
if ($customList->have_posts()) : while ($customList->have_posts()) : $customList->the_post();
 $data = get_post_meta( $post->ID, 'key', true );
 if($data[ 'pin' ]){$pin2 = $data[ 'pin' ]; } else {$pin2 = $pin;}
 ?>
myData_array[] = [{'lat' : <?php echo $data[ 'latitude' ]; ?>, 'lng' : <?php echo $data[ 'longitude' ]; ?>, data:{'title' : "<?php the_title(); ?>", 'address' : "<?php echo $data[ 'address_one' ]; ?>"}}];
<?php endwhile; else:?>
 alert('You need to add posts to display on the map.');
<?php endif; ?>

now you can use the myData_array for clustering. If this doesn't work, try moving var myData_array = new Array(); out of gMap

I haven't tested this code, only wrote it here in the forum.

Do I have to create the file? I am using the WordPress version of this template and thought that data was housed in the DB?

For clustering basically you pass an array which contains the lat, lng and data elements.

I don't have the code anymore but i think it will be useful if you can download this zip file and test it on your server.

http://gmap3.net/download/clusters.zip

For testing, i would recommend to put it somewhere on your server from which you can access it using an http url.

The code is written in these file which will help you write your own 'add' function in your wordpress theme's script.php.

Look at the function called display in the clusters.zip clusters-txt.html for reference.

Contivision - I have looked over all of the data and examples on the sites you have listed in the past couple weeks.

I would be interested in how you were able to get the data... I am possibly over thinking the issue? The script.PHP calls it out, but you would need for the clusterer to capture it first.
Would you be willing to offer a code snippet?
I do realize that this has taken a considerable amount of your time, so no worries if you would like to keep that to yourself.

I also wanted to offer up another avenue - Have you looked at the markerclusterer.js sample from Google?
This should have all available functionality built in... Would this be any different than the built in functionality of the GMap3.js (I have not directly compared the two yet, which is why I ask)?

Thanks much for letting me know that my efforts are not in vain. I am limiting the number of new parkers on the front page for now, but want to be able to offer clusters in the future. Later I will need specific functions to call out parameters for different marker categories, but not for some time.

Thanks again for the solid info!!

I actually reverted my code back to original one after getting fed up with clustering (as i couldn't get individual marker control).

I took help from these links:

http://gmap3.net/examples/clustering.html

http://gmap3.net/api/add-markers.html

The main thing that is different is this:
action: 'addMarkers',
radius:100,
markers: macDoList,

You need to set action to 'addMarkers' (with 's')
need to set a radius
and then provide an array of data markers. This array needs a specific pattern which you can check from this file :

http://gmap3.net/js/mcdo.js

That is all about clustering.

I hope you find something useful.

If you want chunk based loading using AJAX, that i am currently using.

gmap3 v4.1 is working for me regarding the basic system of the theme from Molitor.

I tried clustering and spent several hours to make it work. It seems the clustering works only if you don't want individual marker attributes to work. For example, i made clusters and when i used to zoom in, they would become sub-clusters and kept opening until i reached pins. BUT, the info windows for it dont work, neither does the box on lower left corner of Moliter theme work. The developer of gmap3 has mentioned that he has not yet implemented clustering with individual pin control.

I should clarify... gmap3.js (v4.0) works, gmap3.js (v4.1) does not work.

I have been looking into a lot of the functionalities that would expand the uses of this template, like the ones you speak of here. The possibilities are here, but documentation for the use of many of the files is not, so it causes a lot of work for anyone looking to "upgrade" the template.

Don't get me wrong; I absolutely LOVE this solution! At under $50 how can you go wrong!

I would, on the other hand, pay well over this in order to automatically get all of this functionality, even if it were only HTML and not CMS. (The Molitor - Want to go halfsies on the custom code? LOL!)

The center point of the map CAN be change in the js, along with many other very small customizations in many of the other files.
You can even easily change the number of pins shown on the home page to be as few or as many as you want. This is controlled by one of the PHP files.

At the moment I am contracting an "expert" to upgrade the template to what I need (He is proficient with this code. I am not). The original contracted template customizer said he could not do any of code writing I was asking for - They are not knowledgeable in the GMap APIS FYI.

Thanks The Molitor!! You have developed a very useful tool. We greatly appreciate it!!

If you figure out how to initialize and use the clustering attribute, please let me know. I have yet to have any luck with the GMap forum, although they did let me know that my issues were caused by how the theme pulls in the data (They suggested it be easier if I start from scratch.)

I load 100 pins at a time in json array and then use your 'add' function to populate on map.

However i did find something interesting. It seems you are using version 3.3 of gmap3 api.

Can you please include the latest release of version 4.1 gmap3 api. It has clustering ability for massive data listings.

Gosh, yeah, that's a tough one. The Google map appears to have memory limitations, which isn't something the theme can control really.

My best recommendation is to use the grouping approach another user managed here: http://www.themolitor.com/forums/topic/tip-from-user-markers-on-map-linked-to-categories

Hi, I love your navigator theme. It was working very well with pins less than 800 but now when i started adding more and more pins, its starting to give javascript run time errors etc. In firefox, it asks me every 10 seconds to "Stop script, continue script, debug". If i click "continue script" it goes for another 10 seconds and then asks the same question again. After clicking "Continue script" a few times the page loads fine but this is not going to be a very pleasant experience for the users.

On chrome, it just shows the first 1100+ pins and then gives a jquery error in the console.

I haven't tested it on Mac as yet.

Please let me know how to fix this issue. The main purpose of my website is to list pins on the map and they will increase consistently.

I am using windows 7 64bit [i7, 8GB ram] -- if that helps
