Hey Susan,

I'm a little lost in your few responses. It appears that your site is setup properly. If you could, please list out in order what issues you're still having and I'll try to address them 1 by 1.

Thanks,
Justin

AAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!! I made the mistake of taking a break for dinner. There were NO "404" messages before dinner, right? Now, when I log in to the dashboard, DANG, there it is. It goes away as soon as I browse to any other page.

Sheesh.

?????????????

When I just browse to the website, it's fine. (for the moment) I guess I should never eat dinner again. LOL.

Justin,

I asked the my host just to scrap everything for me. I started with a brand new domain this afternoon and went SLOWLY step-by-step.

I BELIEVE it is set up correctly now. (Hope??)

I realize now that my questions about the slider have to do with just switching to the DUAL slider. DUH again.

But, the counter still laughs at me, meaning there isn't one.

AND, is there a way to prevent all pages but the first from displaying the "Leave a reply" form? It seems as though all pages--again except the first--have been flagged as blog pages or something. That isn't necessarily the case.

Oh, and while I have you "on the line," is there a way to direct posts to go to ONLY the home page? The two tests I have I left as uncategorized. They went to both the home page AND the Blog page. NOT GOOD.

Thanks again,
Susan

Justin,

We must have just missed each other. I thought I set it up according to the help doc. And I just fixed the "not found" errors, as you will find out in another post I've left. Darn. I know you work very hard, but I wish I could just talk with someone.

I'll reread the Help. It's not long, after all.

thanks again,
Susan

Susan,

I am sorry to hear that you're having so many issues. It sounds like all of these are setup issues, and not necessarily issues with the theme. When I visit your site it still appears not to be setup properly. So, while I want to help out, I cannot when your site is not setup as per the Help file. Right now I'm just seeing "Not Found" errors...

This is your site right? http://www.alec-destroys-democracy.org/

Thanks,
Justin

Justin,

I had left a new post about the slider, saying I'd left all the posts in draft mode because they are just family photos; but I guess you've not had time to get to that yet.

I have now published just two posts with featured pictures that are at least close to the right size for the slider, but they still OVERtake the whole screen. It does slide, but it doesn't allow for that section section of text that also slides in the theme as it appears in themeforest.

Sooooooo, there are now two problems: the slider doesn't have the second section; and the counter isn't counting. But you should be able to take a look at the site again.

Nooooo, wait, there are 3 problems. I mentioned this in the other message that you may not have seen: After browsing through the various pages, the "leave reply" comment section now appears on the front page as well as the Contact page. It's as though some flag gets set, such as "comment=yes" that doesn't get turned off. I think it shows up on one other incorrect page, too, but not all of them.

This last problem seems really bizarre, because it seems as though it's in the CSS. But it also seems as though it ought to happen to everyone, ya know?

thanks again,
Susan

Susan,

No worries, that's what we're here for :) It looks like your theme isn't fully setup at the moment. Once you get it back up and running I can take a look at the counter for you.

Thanks,

Justin,

Pretty dumb! I guess I just "assumed" --that lovely verb-- that in all the option data there would be a beginning menu, so somehow something must be wrong, ya know?

Sheesh. I wonder if I'll ever stop falling into the assuming trap.

BTW, do you know why the counter in the countdown isn't showing up?

Thanks again so much,
Susan

Hi Susan,

No worries - I'm a moderator, we provide support M-F, so I apologize for the semi-slow response. It looks like you don't have your Menu setup properly.

Go to Appearance > Menu

Then you'll want to set the Menu Location (top left) to "Main Navigation" and hit SAVE. You can follow the Help file that comes with the theme for more in depth directions. That should do it thought :)

Thanks,
Justin

Hi, Justin,

You seem to be the most helpful person here. Thanks for responding.

Again, I've just started. I'm really just trying to get comfortable with Politico so that I can then transfer the experience to a DIFFERENT website for an organization for which I volunteer. Good thing I'm practicing, right?

The link is: http://www.alec-destroys-democracy.org

Thanks again for any help,

I realize I didn't state that well.

The page names are NOT showing up on the navigation bar as buttons, but rather as a single column.

Is that clearer?

Any ideas?

thanks,

I have JUST installed the Politico theme, so I'm dealing with the default pages and options, etc. The page names show up on the top and bottom of the pages in a single column of bulleted items under the logo rather than across the page as tabs.

Any ideas as to "what the heck?"

Wordpress 3.3.1.

Thanks for any help,
Susan
