Your site was displaying like it should. Before you started making customizations to it, it displayed just like the demo site.

You can make adjustments to the site via CSS, but this is considered a customization and not a theme issue. Support does not include customization services, but I'm happy to point you in the right direction if you want to make edits to a specific element.

its not that, everything is too small. the font, the background black box. Can it be made bigger or zoomed in so that the site is not mostly a background?

The page is displaying properly, but your video embed codes are too wide. Be sure to configure the size of the videos so that the width is 450 pixels.
