Actually - I figured this out. I was doing it correctly by reconfiguring the "date" of post...I just needed to make sure my recent posts were set behind the one I wanted to default. Anyway - maybe this will help someone else.

Hi, say I have several posts set to be included in the home page slider. The most recent post is the one the page defaults to on load. However, I want to change the "default" post to one I put in weeks earlier. IS this possible? I tried to change the date/scheduling on the post editing, but that didnt seem to work. I hope this question makes sense. Thanks!!
