I think you need to go to:

Tools > Import > Select Wordpress (install it if you haven't)

Give that a try. I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I'd like to just start the WP template just like the demo, then make my edits. Can anyone help us?

Hi,

Just purchased your Politico Theme. I uploaded the theme as instructed and then added and activated the "OptionTree" plugin, which I have used successfully in the past with other themes. However it will not work with this theme. When I activate OptionTree it immediately goes to the "Logo & Color" section within Option Tree and not the upload XML page allowing me to upload the theme files. I've been at this for over an an hour now. I tried deactivating and deleting the plugin and then reinstalling it, however I keep getting the same issue again and again. Please help!

One more thing: Typically OptionTree shows in the left side (Dashboard) admin panel of wordpress, however is not showing. The only way to access Option Tree, is to click on "Theme Options" in the "Appearance Section" and it immediately takes you to the "Logo & Color" section within option tree.
