Themeforest lists it as a general, they dont have a system for versioning(unfortunately) the download link always have the latest version

if you open the style.css included in the theme there some commenting in the header which has the version number(its also where WordPress pulls the information on the Appearance Page)

the latest version does not require the OptionTree plugin at all, it must be deactivated if you're using the latest version which will cause problems

Thanks again for offering this theme; I love it!
I noticed recently that there was an update posted for the Novelist v 1.2...? I'm confused. When I go to my Theme Forest account, it says that I've already downloaded it, and the theme is still listed just generally as the Novelist, not the Novelist 1.2. By the way, I downloaded the theme in March of 2012. How do I get a current version? Or do I already have the current version? It keeps saying on my site that the Option Tree Plug-in is required for my site to work properly, but I thought I already upgraded it (is this version 2.0.10?).
Also, I might be able to solve the problem, but just in case I don't... In the footer section of my site where there is a customizable message "box" that when clicked leads to the comment box, I am having a problem. When my site name was different, I had it saying "wtf, post!", but when I go to edit the css to change this message to something else, the whole site turns white. My site is kindakindra.com.
