Alternatively you can add this to your wp-config.php file

define('EMPTY_TRASH_DAYS', 365 );

although it may hurt the performance of the site

I would suggest that you simply unpublished them, rather than deleting. The manner in which the Trash feature works is solely on Worpdress. Unpublishing to "Draft" will alleviate your issues.

Hi,

My calendar has several events that I am trashing this year (as they expire) but that I will want to post up next year, as they will reoccurr annually.

However, when I move my events into the trash bin, it seems they are automatically deleted after a certain amount of time. Any way of changing a setting to stop this from happening? Can I keep things in the trash bin (off the site) for more than a year? Or will I just need to save those as drafts to publish next year?
