Hello Chris,

I've had the site finished for some time now and the guys I did this for want to know if it is possible to enable the player to play continuously while changing pages. I've looked into it a bit and realize that I am completely unprepared to attempt something like this. I would imagine you have received a number of requests for the same thing. Have you ever attempted to provide this functionality? If you could take the job, how much would you charge to do it? Here's the site url: http://www.docsofrock.com

No problem. because your time is full, I learned something. For an issue like this, it seems there were a dozen different approaches. Some of which I tried with no success. In the end, I basically just stumbled onto the answer by taking bits and pieces from all of the suggestions and doing lots of trial and error. Constantly loading different pages and scripts to the test site, clearing the history on the iPad, and trying again. Once I got it to work, I was almost embarrassed over how simple a change it was. I think I read more into an issue than I should at times. I also think that some people who know a lot more about this stuff than the average guy like to impress with their grasp of things and make their answers much more difficult and cryptic than need be. That just makes it more confusing for those with admittedly limited knowledge like myself.

Chris, I figured out how to overcome the drop down problem. It isn't 100% perfect, but the downside is so small and the fix so simple that it is a great trade. In custom.js, under the //menu section, just change the .hover function to .click. While this prevents the drop downs from appearing just from a mouse hover, it at least lets them open on a touchscreen device the first time you touch them. Anybody wanting to know what is under a menu tab is going to click it anyway. You're probably light years better than I am at coding. You could probably write a "device detect" script and offer the appropriate code for the user's device.

Chris, attempting a fix, I added a line within the anchor tag for the menu items with drop-downs, "media" and "team". The line is onClick="return true" This did not resolve the issue, but I noticed that once you "press" one of these menu items, while it won't drop down, the other will. That is, it doesn't matter which one you press first, while the one you pressed first doesn't drop open, once you've pressed either, the other opens freely. Once you establish the opening of one, you can go back and forth between the two of them and they open consistently. However, if you "click" on any other main menu items, the dance starts all over. In addition, regardless which page you go to, if you start playing a song, the drop down menu items open just as they should on the first click. Seems like some kind of focus thing going on. Hope this helps. Bill

Hi there,

Looks like an update is required to address this issue. Let me do a bit more research and I'll write a fix for this. I'm marking this thread "pending review" so I know to come back to it.

Thanks for posting!

Chris, I have a couple of drop-down menus in the Nocturnal html site I've been working with that are behaving poorly. Don't know if it's something I've done or if it's a bug. I've read a bit about this behavior and it seems I'm hardly the only one having a problem like this. Is there someting that can be done to correct this? The two drop menus are "media" and "ream" on this site:

Let me know if I can edit anything to resolve this.

Thanks, bill
