<p>Well I was try a plugin called Shortcode Ultimates... It works fine in the articles. But in the home page I have the shortcodes in the exceprts ... <p>It's not a base feature of this theme, but there are several Plugins out there that will help you add desired functionality (such as adding a button within content, or an accordion, etc...).  I can't promise that any 3rd party plugin will work, but you're welcome to give it a try.</p>
<p>If you shoot me a message as to what exactly you're trying to do w/short-codes I can help look for plugins.</p>
