I would suggest you create a bunch of dummy content with categories that suite your needs to test out the homepage features. Chris here is also a fabulous support resource but if you need more help I have a consulting company @ http://syntress.com where we can help you out with all aspects of putting a site like this up. The site we put up just broke it's 100,000th visitor since going online six months ago.

I bought the Daily Press b/c the You Tube display was so cool, but I'm baffled as to how to get the site to look like the demo on YouTube. That's my goal. Any chance you can help coach me through how you got the categories to display in the left column: Breaking News, NY, Entertainment ...?

Hi there,

No, that's not a bug. That's where tags appear. If you don't anticipate using tags, open up "single.php" and on line 74 replace the following...

<li><?php the_tags('Tagged With: ');?></li>

...with this...

<?php the_tags('<li>Tagged With: ',', ','</li>');?>

Regarding plugins, I haven't tested/used anything else. Sorry.

I now have a navigation bar but below it I still see just New York and not the entire list of categories that I selected in the control panel. Additionally I still do not see the most recent articles on the homepage. Please tell me what I am missing on those two.

Hi Chris,

I imported your XML and using the Posts that already exist. The category "Breaking News" is selected and saved correctly. This is the only part of the theme that is not working. Please let me know what else I can check or change.

The other options are saving without issue. If you look at the site you will see that the navigation bar options will not save and the posts will not show up on the homepage no matter what category I assign.

No coding required ;-)

The procedure for adding posts to the home page goes like this...

1. Create the categories you want to use on the "categories" page (under "posts").
2. Create posts and assign them to the appropriate category.
3. In the theme options, select the categories you want to display and save your selections.

If posts still aren't displaying after doing that...

1. Are any of the other theme options saving (i.e. logo, etc)?
2. If other options are saving, when you go to the category selection part of the theme options, are the categories you selected still showing as being selected in the drop down menu (i.e. "category 1" selection is showing when you initially visit the tab)?

I am having the same issue with the home page not showing the Recent Post as shown in the Demo theme. Your manual does not explain this part very well. The settings in the options are correct, but is there a code that needs to be placed on the home page?

I am still unable to select a category and have it show up on the homepage. I have de-activated all plugins (even jetpack) and still have the same issue.

I am happy to provide you with a login to the website so you can attempt to make the changes yourself.

Hi there,

The fields are still there, but the latest version of WordPress for some reason makes them invisible. You can still click the category. Just make sure you're not selecting a "Category 2" option without also selecting a "Category 1" option.

Are you're other theme options saving properly? If none of the theme options are saving, that isn't a theme-related issue, but has to do with your particular setup. Try deactivating additional plugins you have installed to make sure they aren't the cause.

I cannot get more than one category to show up on the navigation bar of the website with this theme. The admin page for setting the categories is also not working right, the only field I can see visibly is Category 1, the rest are invisible.

Although I can click on the invisible fields and select a category. These categories I pick do not show up on the website.

Additionally the homepage is not showing any of the recent posts that show up on the navigation bar.
